I've always loved decorating, event planning, and making people feel seen. I started in hospitality as a sales and catering coordinator, and my favorite part was always watching people stop, celebrate each other, and enjoy the moment together.
After planning our 10-day destination wedding, I was exhausted. My husband's 40th birthday was the week after we got home, a big one I couldn't skip, so I went looking for someone to decorate a hotel room for him. I called several hotels and searched for companies, but I couldn't find anyone. That's when I realized there was a gap in the market. I had the proper training and knowledge to do it myself, but starting a company is terrifying. My husband encouraged me to go for it, and with his support, Proper Celebration was born: elevated rooms at realistic prices.
Everything is listed, priced and explained up front. No mystery fees, no guessing what's included, and a proposal that shows your real total before you sign anything.
Meet the team
We're a husband and wife team, two real people building something from scratch while working full-time jobs. When I told Melvin I wanted to start this business, he didn't hesitate. Not for a second. He believed in me before I had anything to show for it, and he has never stopped.
I took the lead on sourcing and building the website, and Melvin made it possible by supporting me in every other way. He stands behind the camera and edits every video we post. He's learning how to set up each room right beside me. And with two busy schedules that don't always line up, he's the one who works with me to make the time, every single time. He's the reason I keep going when I'm tired, and he makes me want to try even harder.
I get to build this with my best friend. We design together, learn together, and grow together. (Yes, I boss him around a little. He takes direction beautifully.)
God blessed us to bless others, and our faith is what moves us to bring more love into other people's lives. So every room we create is made with love, by two people who are so grateful to be doing this side by side.
